What the School is About
The school will focus on the following themes of cutting-edge research in the area
of privacy, security and authentication for wireless networking. The school format
fosters close interaction between students and lecturers who are expected to work
together on open problems of contemporary research. Grants are available (see
application form).

- Random pre-distribution of keys is a very elegant key-managment scheme
originally introduced for sensor networks, but with potential
applications to other scenarios e.g. peer-to-peer networks. In
this
talk we will show that the scheme enjoys extremely strong security and
connectivity properties simultaneosly.

The School will take place from Monday morning to Friday morning (included).
Participants that plan to arrive before/after September 3 and/or to leave after
September 8 should contact the local organizer Eleonora Campori.
Registration
All applicants that have been accepted to the School must register by July 21 using this form. The form should be sent by fax to Eleonora Campori, fax nr. +39 0543 446557.
Important information:
The registration and accomodation fee covers all the costs for the
period September 3 to 8: registration to the School, 6
nights, full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner; dinner
of September 3 and lunch of September 8 included). The
accommodation can be: (a) in double room
(to be shared with another participant), for a fee of 650 €; (b) in single room, for a fee of 750 €.
- the fee must be paid on arrival on site by credit card, traveller's check, or cash;
- the half grant covers half of the fee, in this case the accomodation will be in double room and the fee is 325 €;
- the full grant covers the whole registration and accomodation fee.
Location and Travel info
The School will be held at the University Residential Centre of
Bertinoro, located in the medieval hilltop town of Bertinoro
. The town of Bertinoro is in the Emilia Romagna region, and it is about
50km east of Bologna (see the map). Bertinoro is
picturesque, with many narrow streets and walkways winding around the central
peak. It is also close to several beautiful cities like for example
Ravenna and Republic of San Marino. The University Residential Centre of
Bertinoro is an ex-Episcopal fortress that has been converted by the University
of Bologna into a modern conference centre.
Bertinoro can be easily reached by train or by taxi from Bologna (see detailed travel
information). Detailed information on train connections can be found at the

Final examination
At the end of the school there will be the option of taking a
final exam -with marks-.
