Web Bar 2009

After three successful editions, the 4th edition of WebBar will take place again in Bertinoro Castle, in the peaceful Italian countryside. This year the course focuses on machine learning techniques, that are of critical importance for Web applications. The course will be taught by Thomas Hofmann, Director of Google Zürich. Dr Hofmann is a former professor of Computer Science at Brown University and a world-renowned machine-learning expert.

The course will be complemented by seminars of Nicolò Cesa-Bianchi who will speak about web-spam detection and the prediction of user interests in social networks.

During the school, several projects for independent research will be discussed. In past editions, many of these projects became full-fledged research papers accepted by prestigious venues such as WWW, ACM PODS and others.
